Abdullah Gül University (AGU) hosted the "ReUseFest" in order to draw attention to the importance of recycling and sustainability. Various activities of the festival included construction of shelters for stray animals from waste materials and photo contests to depict the reflections of waste in our lives.
The festival, which was held at the Sümer Campus exhibition area, was organized jointly by the Student Clubs Association and the Waste Committee.
The festival also features workshops and contests to practice "3 Rs" of waste reduction which are "Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling."
The fun and interactive festival aimed to raise AGU students' awareness through workshops and activities about the fact that waste materials were not trash and how to make use of them so that they did not harm the environment.
As part of the activities, animal shelters were built and photo contests held to show the reflections of waste in our lives.
At the end of the contest, awards of the students were presented by Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu. The winning photos as well as all submissions to the contest were exhibited.
At the end of the festival, the rock band “Koray Haklı & 80 Mill” took the stage. Students enjoyed the concert fully.
