The Abdullah Gül University commissions which had been established to decide about and to pursue university policies held its first general meetings under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Cengiz Yılmaz at November 4, 2019. In this meeting, the different commissions presented their reports about their activities until so far. Moreover, they talked about their prospects about how the university policies should be shaped.

The newly-founded Diversity and Equality Commission has also shared its opinions about the university policies that had been adopted and the university activities in three related fields; the gender equality, reducing inequality and peace, justice and strong institutitions, respectively. In the first subject, the commission delivered its advices on providing gender equality on several fronts; such as, encouraging the participation of female students in the activities of student clubs; promoting policies against gender based discrimination; providing facilities, like kindergarden, for female staff.

The commission, secondly, brought up the issue of detecting and reducing the inequalities in the university. Providing access of the disabled students to the university and increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in the campus life were some of the issues raised by the commission in the meeting. Lastly, the Diversity and Equality Commission has emphasized on the importance of SDG 16,  peace, justice and strong institutions. In this subject, the commission members have spoken about the participation of university staff and students in the decision making mechanism of the university and the university partnership with the local NGOs.
