A training session was held at Abdullah Gül University (AGU) on the architectural documentation of cultural assets with instrumental techniques. The university staff, graduate students, and staff from public institutions and organizations concerned with conservation practices joined the training.
As a project carried out by Assoc. Prof. Nilüfer Yöney from the AGU Faculty of Architecture within the scope of the Technical Support Projects of the Middle Anatolia Development Agency (ORAN), the training session on the architectural documentation of cultural assets with instrumental techniques was held at the Sümer Campus.
During the training, equipment at the Architectural Conservation and Documentation Laboratory of the AGU Faculty of Architecture was used. The aim was the use of faster and more precise techniques with a modern electronic theodolite and long-range laser scanner.
Institutional, technical and applied sessions were also included in the training in order to benefit more effectively from various scientific research and development work, professional practices, electronic devices based in and around Kayseri.
Fieldwork was also part of the training which was given by Rekare Mimarlık with expertise in architectural documentation of cultural assets under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and ORAN Development Agency.
The fieldwork was carried out in Yeşilyurt and Bağpınar neighborhoods of Melikgazi district, and how data obtained from there were converted into drawing was analyzed in detail.
In the short run, the training will develop the human infrastructure of institutions and offices concerned with conservation in the city, and in the long run, it will contribute to and support local development goals, in particular cultural tourism, documentation, conservation and restoration of cultural assets in and around Kayseri
