The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ankara and the Architecture Faculty of the Abdullah Gül University (AGU) organized an exhibition. The exhibition featured works of Dutch artists created through recycling domestic, animal and other waste materials.

The exhibition was curated by Jan Boelen, curator of the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial, and hosted at the Sumer Campus Rectorate Exhibition Hall.

Erik Weststrate, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Turkey, Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, Ahmet Çolakbayrakdar, Kocasinan District Mayor, Sibel Livdumlu, Provincial Director of the Environment and Urbanization Ministry, opened the exhibition together.

Rector Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu spoke at the opening and highlighted that the exhibition featured various artistic and cultural works created for a sustainable future, waste management, and reusing waste for the social and economic benefit, which concerned all humanity as global challenges.

Erik Weststrate, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Turkey, also stressed the significance of recycling.

Deputy Ambassador Weststrate mentioned that earth's resources were diminishing while humans kept binning.

Mr. Weststrate said: "We do not use, set aside and our waste piles up. We now see that this cannot go on and we need to reuse our waste. Let's not throw anything away, and not have any waste on earth. Let's reuse them. Artists show us how we can reuse our waste and this exhibition is all about that. All items on the exhibition have been created from waste materials."

After the opening remarks, visitors saw the works of art by Dutch artists, which were recycled from waste materials around the theme of "Waste: discarded, forgotten and rejected material".

The exhibition will be open until Thursday, April 25.
