Tekden Group Chairman and Surgeon Kemal Tekden delivered a speech on "Entrepreneurial Spirit" at AGU.
Surgeon Kemal Tekden was the latest guest speaker of the "AGU Talks" seminar series, organized by the AGU Youth Factory to bring together prominent figures of culture, arts, sports, education and business with students.
Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu, students of AGU and other Kayseri universities, academic and administrative staff joined the seminar at the Rectorate Conference Hall.
Surgeon Kemal Tekden talked about his business life in his speech, told students to always question life, know, and discover themselves.
Tekden said: "I believe one has to question life before everything else. You need to ask yourselves why you spend time for education. This type of questioning must be a priority in our lives."
Tekden added, only those who discover and know themselves can be successful: "Discover yourselves. It is not likely that people can be successful without discovering or knowing themselves. What kind of intelligence do you have: visual, social or intrapersonal intelligence? If you have them, it would mean you also have emotional intelligence. That is the most important criterion for success. You might have a high level of IQ, but your success chance is 20% in life. However, if your emotional intelligence is high, your success rate is 80%. That is what you need to discover. Know your skills. Many people work without knowing what they can do."
Advising students never to give up, Tekden also stressed why leadership is important:
"It is very important to be a leader at a business. Leaders give others authority and trust them. They have broad horizons. They strive to lead their businesses to success. People criticize each other all the time. I found another way. I criticize myself questioning where I made a mistake. Because, nobody is perfect."
Tekden continued the talk with students' questions.
At the end, Zeynep Tuğçe Çiftçibaşı Güç, AGU Youth Factory Coordinator, presented Tekden a Sapling Donation Certificate for the sapling planted in his name.
