Abdullah Gül University was placed in the top 30 of the WURI 2021 Ranking for the Global Top Innovative Universities, which evaluates world-renowned universities such as Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, etc. The University achieved outstanding success by ranking 2nd in "Crisis Management," a new criterion added this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 6th in "Student Mobility and Openness." For the second consecutive time, AGU has entered the top 100 university list and thus become the only Turkish university to do so, which is an achievement not only for itself but also for the country.
AGU was ranked at 27th place among the global top universities of the WURI 2021 Ranking, created by the Hanseatic League of Universities to assess universities' real contributions to societies.
The criteria used for the evaluation and ranking concerned the innovative aspects of the universities and involved industrial application, entrepreneurial spirit, ethical value, and student mobility and openness.
Previously on a national list, AGU became the best state university at managing the distance education transition during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first version of the WURI's Crisis Management category, also added as a result of the COVID-19, AGU reiterated this success globally and took 2nd place. The University also ranked 6th in Student Mobility and Openness.
AGU is the only Turkish university to be ranked in the WURI's global top 100 for two consecutive years. Besides showing the University's institutional success, AGU's rankings represent Turkey and help promote the country's higher education abroad.
Commenting on this latest achievement, Rector Prof. Cengiz Yılmaz reminded AGU managed to enter into the international rankings of leading agencies such as the Times Higher Education (THE), Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and Multirank in a short time.
Highlighting the long-term planned internationalization and branding strategy of AGU, also a member of the Hanseatic League of Universities, Prof. Yılmaz expressed AGU continues firmly on its path.
